Need Help on Springs on 2001 V-10 Engine

I have a 4x4 V-10 2001 Excursion Limited and the spring code on the door jam says CG and I want to increase the height.. What springs do I go with for front and rear?

Is there a link with good info on this too?

When I look up springs for the excursion they dont list many.

It depends on how much height you are looking for. It seems the X code front springs have the highest rating and should give you the most lift. Most people have gone with the V codes as they are more plentiful from a used aspect. If you are going new, I would order the X codes. If you are looking at buying used you will probably have more luck finding V codes but if you look under car-part.com you should be able to find what you are looking for.

You should go to the tech folder and read the steering wander thread. It will give you alot of info. (Almost too much info at times!) Most people have gone with the modded B codes for the rear springs. This seems to be the best for a slightly rear up stance and will give you added capacity.

My own experience is I just had a spring shop install a modded V code for my front end with 3 full springs. I was told that even the V codes will get saggy over time and since I bought a used set, you are not sure of the previous use. He took one leaf off the set he pulled off the truck and clamped it to the V code. I picked up about 3 inches in height (from 37 inches to 40) at the wheel well lip. At this point I did not change the rear springs. I have a set of C codes from a dually at my disposal. The shop just installed a 2 inch block at my springs to bring the rear up.

The ride change is like night and day. NO more wander and the vehicle feels firm. The best part of this is that the repair was only $468 with me supplying the new (to me) springs.

I hope this helps.

How does the springs look are the same lenths stacked on each other ? Do you have a pic?

Since you have brand new v codes I don't know if you need to mod them, but yes the bottom clamped leaf was just added in my case for the 3 total leafs. You would just need to purchase a new center bolt and bigger clamps. I do not have a picture at the moment.

Good Luck
