How long should tires last?
 
I have a 2001 SuperCrew 4x4 with approximately 53,000 kms on it. I would say that 90% of the Kms come from highway driving. Now, I am getting a vibration in the steering wheel. Contacted my dealer who says it sounds like the tires are shot. Should they be?? They are GoodYear.

See what "Goodyear" has to say. Most tires should last around 75-80K with normal driving. Although I know some people who can go through a set in a lot less time and distance.

Just my $.02 worth!

Nope, no problem with the brakes at all.

Had the ball joints replaced two weeks ago and this was when the problem started.

I think you've just discovered your problem. Take it back to the outfit that did your ball joints. Sounds like something's loose.....tie rod end, or a wheel, perhaps?

Edit: As Powerstroker mentioned, if the tires were rotated at the same time, perhaps one of the rears, now on the front, needs balancing.

Well, guess what. The wheels were out of balance. So had that done and it rides just a new truck. Go figure.

P.S. a KM is equal to 1.609344 mile so for the 52,000 Km equals 32,311 miles.

So that's what that km on my speedo is for. And all this time I thought it stood for Kruizin' miles?:rolleyes:
