Need a temporary ipod connection
 

Guys,
Have To run to florida and back next week. 11 Hours each way. I need a temporary hookup for an ipod or my android phone so I can play books on tape to stay occupied.
On my only other real trip I put earbuds in my ear and would prefer not to do that.
I have a 6 disc changer and rse. I seem to remember there is a way to plug it into the rse. I'm searching but can't seem to find that.

Any suggestions???

Perhaps one of those things that allow you to play it over a radio channel, then tune the radio to it?

Lots of places sell them. I bought one made by Scosche from Wal-Mart but I'm not real happy with it. The one I have only broadcasts on the odd decimal frequencies (.1, .3, .5, .7, and .9) of FM 88, 90, 106, and 107. That give you 20 frequencies to try, which seems like it would be plenty, but I find that even I often get just enough environmental interference that it makes my radio drop and play noise/static rather than the music I'm transmitting. Obviously it will be dependent on the region, terrain, etc., but my daily commute is relatively rural.

I've seen other models that can supposedly broadcast on the full FM radio spectrum. YMMV.

I'd like to replace my head unit with one that has Bluetooth and/or a USB jack, but that keeps competing for funds with other more important things.

I'm thinking there's a way to plug it into the rse and play it through the speakers that way. I keep trying to buy the adapter that creates a Ipod input and piggybacks around to the back of the head unit.
Other things keep taking priority...

He had to swap the stereo with a different factory model though.

I've plugged my ipod into the rear dvd player (input jacks on the face of the player) and played it that way. Turn the volume about 3/4 of the way up on the ipod and set the front unit to "aux" i believe.

Cable was a 1/8" headphone to 2 rca plugs, can find it at radioshack and i believe walmart as well.

Yep, that will work. I bought a really long 3.5mm to RCA adapter and ran it all the way down to my dash. Just plug it in and set radio to AUX.

That's what I'm looking for.
