Engine swap
I have a 04 f-250 4x4 with the 5.4 auto. I am thinking about swapping to the 6.2 boss when the engine goes later. Anybody have any idears on what all needs to be changed.

Everything. Transmissions, PCM, wiring harness, it would be a HUGE swap
By the time you spend all the money and your time on it just buy a newer truck with the 6.2. It will cause far less headaches
Thanks, guess I'll just rebuild and supercharge.
Why not a V10 swap? That's within the realm of possibility. For the most part it'd be a plug and play swap.
Haven't really thought about. It runs good, it has 240,000 on it. And I pull a 36 ft fifth wheel with it.
A Cummins is another popular swap.
Cummins is a good engine, but if going diesel I'd rather go with a 7.3.
If the time came I'd suggest adding two cylinders and call it DONE. You'd have ~25% increase in horsepower and torque for a factory-engineered plug and play setup. That has my vote. :-X22

So the V- 10 is plug and play with a 5.4 truck? What about the tranny and exhaust y pipe?

Ok thanks for the info. When the time comes I'll look into it further, for now I guess I'll just change gear ratio.

Too bad they don't make stuff like the sbc. Part interchange ability would be a nice thing. What has me wondering is if you would be able get the fuel injection to bolt up and then swap over sensors and worry about tuning. Or is the ignition system also to different?
