Gave the Navi some love
and here's the end result:

Dawn, claybar, swirl remover, glaze, and sealant all in one day. I knew it was a big @ss truck but man you don't realize how much real estate this thing has until you go over it 6 times... Was well worth the effort once it was done though and in the sun. |
AAWW MAN that thing looks awsome!!! Can i eat off of it!!! PS need tinted windows :P

amazing! swirls and general upkeep is the reason i will never own another black truck.
yours looks absolutely stunning! |

Gotta love Texas...100+ days most of the year...crappy tint laws :-arrgh Black certainly hard to upkeep....but when it is definitely hard to beat. Hadn't done a proper breakdown since I got it so long overdue. Used the Wolfgang trio so the 3.0 sealant should help things keep looking great. |
did you do it by hand?
|
No.....I used to but autogeek.com was running a special on their porter cable, pass, and Wolfgang products so decided to finally see what all the fuss was about. Although I thought I got good results by hand via Zaino products, it just doesn't compare with a machine with the right pad on defects. Paint is nearly flawless when it comes to all but a few deep cuts in the clearcoat ... something can't be done by hand. I've been converted to a true believer of porter cable vs by hand.

It looks fantastic! I was looking at the same package, I did mine by hand couldn't fine my buffer (just moved)my truck is over due as-well.
I had to take a second look t the 4th picture, mirror image again wow. |
I'm very pleased with the results. Just from normal driving I washed the truck yesterday cause of all the dust and whatnot. I didn't even have to touch it with a sponge. I was in awe on how just spraying it off with the hose took everything off the truck including bugs. I've never experienced that before so stood there in disbelief wasting water I'm sure. I'm got the Mustang in the garage now and doing the paint correction step (Black as well). Being an 01 I have my work cut out for me but from what I've been able to do on the first part of the car, the result are astonishing. Can't wait to get it finished as well (long time Zaino user and was happy with it....till now).

Take some before pictures of the stang:)
Thanks |
So the Mustang's paint was in pretty bad shape. I've been kinda lazy and working on it in pieces as I have time and laziness allows. Here's some bad pics of just the correction stage...which is all I've done so far:
Before http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...731_222116.jpg After http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...731_222854.jpg You can see how much that scratch was reduced and the swirls gone. Before: http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...731_221300.jpg http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...731_221209.jpg After: http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...731_221732.jpg http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...731_221726.jpg Can see swirl free. Tonight will probably put on the glaze and sealant and be done with it. Will post way better pics then but as of now night time is the only time I have to work on it. |
Your L looks great! We've got an '07 L in Dark Blue Pearl and they are lots of real estate to cover... congrats on making the Black look so good! I learned of the Porter Cable tool a few years ago from a Mercury Marauder forum... lots of big black cars there... and I've been converted ever since.
Good luck with the 'Stang... mine needs love too! |
Finally finished up with the glaze and sealant. Will take full car pics in the morning after the sealant has finished curing...but for now looks pretty darn good for 11 year old car:

Believer and advocate of the Wolfgang line of products now after the results from both vehicles. |
For those interested here's the final product of the Mustang using a PC and the Wolfgang trio. The paint was in pretty rough shape but the results speaks for itself:

Do you have links to the actual products you used? Those results are amazing
|
What I used was:
Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0, car polish, polishing compound For paint correction Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0, Wolfgang finishing polish, polising glaze, machine glaze For the polish and Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant delivers a deep, wet, liquid shimmer unlike anything you can imagine. For the sealant. The actual kit I bought was: Wolfgang Duo & Porter Cable 7424XP FREE BONUS and had to add the sealant and the blue finishing pad. The products were real easy to work with and the results speak for itself. |
