two-tone a one-tone truck
When I purchased my truck I wanted a solid color, now I am thinking about having the lower part painted to make it two-tone. It would be just the lower part like the stock two-tone. Anyone do this, or has an idea what it would cost? I am not looking for an exact dollar figure just an estimate.
Also anyone that has painted their grille surround, what did ya pay? |
Lots of people around here get the rocker panels and wheel arches done in line-x or rhino liner. Durable and if done right can look pretty sharp.

About 600- 1000.00
Did it to two F350s over the years. Looks good I think. |
I don't think I would do the line-x. Not so much because I don't like it because I have it on my bed, but when it comes time to sell/trade-in I could see people having a problem with it, and try to use it as a reason to give me a lower trade-in or price.
A thousand bucks isn't bad in my opinion for the difference in look. I know thats an estimate and prices varry but thaks for the ballpark figure. If I do it it will probably throw on some fender flares and paint the grille surround while I am at it. I would just buy a ready to paint surround so I could keep the crome one incase my taste changes down the road. |

Will your accent color be black? If so, you could spray it with Plasti Dip to see if you like the look and peel it off if you don't or just leave it on. :-X22
Plasti Dip looks like an interest product, but I don't think I will be trying it on my truck. Maybe if I was an old farm truck I would give it a shot. I have never seen Plasti Dip before but I think I might have a few other uses for it in mind. They have several colors available other than black too. |
After doing a Google search for Plastic Dip Grille I guess it's not as crazy as I first thought. Maybe I will play around with it a little bit and see. Might work good to emblems or something like like but, that grille surround is a big piece. Thanks for the idea.

I found a picture of this done to a new style truck, don't know if I like it. Plasti-Dip'd Wheels (How to) - Page 5 - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum its about half way down on page 5

You could also do the lower rockers in Mylar. I've done this before. It won't follow wraps into to door jambs, but will look good. It's easy to do yourself, and colors are almost unlimited.
Mylar is very durable, and can be removed later if desired. |

Wrap it. I had my rocker panels on my 430 wrapped in carbon fiber look.
Relatively inexpensive and easy to reverse if you get tired of it or if the new owner doesn't want it. I'm thinking about doing to same on my F250, top half. |
Um, nice lil car you gots there mmollo.
