1992 F250 no spark
 
Hey guys and gals!! I have a 1992 Ford F250 5.8L gas engine, with no spark so far I have tried a ignition Control unit ( the one on drivers fender ) and a coil, still no spark!! What else can I try? need to diagnose not just throw parts at it!! please help!! thanks

Does the fuel pump run when you turn the key? Have you checked the fuses both under the dash and under the hood? If that all checks out then check for voltage at the coil, should be 12v IIRC on the 'hot' side of the coil (the side the DOESN'T have the condenser/noise filter hooked to it).

fuel pump kicks in and i have 38 psi at the test port, all fuses good, ill check coil thanks!!!

ok i did all tests, and did them 2 times to be sure, as per the test it point to the PIP sensor. Where is a good place to buy one and can you get it out of the distributor? or replace whole distributor?

Replace the whole distributor is easiest
I had terrible luck with the re-manufactured units, so...I went to CarQuest and bought a brand new unit, marked on the box "heat tested" I think it cost me 120.-...

ok got a used PIP sensor, and I have all kind of spark, but still will not start? I double checked timing? suggestions please?

I must be off in timing, any one have a how to find TDC cylinder # 1?
where should the timing mark be on the harmonic balancer on comp stroke?
#1 cylinder is pass side front?

Sorry guys i should get a service manual for this truck

so it was PIP sensor, now next days off set my timing and hope she fires
