rekeying ignition switch
 
i have a 1973 C700 and i would like to know how to remove the tumbler. i have a paper clip!

I think you are going to need the key, I forget which way, I think you turn
to left Acc. then the paper clip it will slide right out if not turn to right :on:
then go to Napa and get a new key and cylinder.

Turn to "acc", insert paperclip and pull to remove lock cylinder

Remove a battery cable for safety, reach behind the dash, push the spring loaded ignition switch towards you, and while holding it firm with one hand, use the other to remove the ignition switch bezel, which twists off by a quarter turn.

Now you can use the paper clip method, because the cylinder cannot be removed, until you remove the bezel.

The bezel has two notches, one larger than the other. The switch has two matching pins made as part of it. Peeps are unaware, use pliers to remove it, which tears out one or both of the notches.

Applications: 1961/73 C Series Tilt Cab / 1974 C Series Tilt Cab before serial number U20,001 // 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1000 / 1966/77 Bronco / 1967/69 F800/1000.

1974 C Series from serial number U20,001 / 1975 and later C Series: The bezel (C6OZ-11584-A ~ same: 1966/67 Fairlane/Falcon / 1967/68 Mustang/Cougar) threads on/off, but you still have to press the switch towards you to remove it.
