Across the US 'Ride for IDES' by a Hoosier
Mark is a friend of mine, and we attend the same church. He is a school teacher and also a youth sponser for our middle and high school students at church. He and his family are a wonderful example to the youth of our community and his heart and passion is for the Lord........and riding his bike.
They are leaving today for California where they will begin their journey across the country. They will be passing through Indiana later in June. Listen to Mark in the video for all the details. http://www.ides.org/rideforides.html Ride For IDES - YouTube |
Awesome cause and amazing family Wag...THANKS for posting this!
BTW...my butt hurts just thinking about the time in the saddle your friend will have! Keep us posted on his progress...man across country on a bike? He will be in our prayers for sure! Joe. |
Thats amazing Wag, well done

Yes Joe, great cause and they are amazing! Mark also gives my son guitar lessons. My son really looks up to him.
I think they said there will be a blog that will update the progress, I'll put it in here when they start it. I know they will appreciate the prayers. |

It's a beautiful day to start a cycling trip in Oceanside. Great idea to get across that desert before summertime.

To drive straight through from Indiana to California would be a 34 hour drive. I can't imagine driving all that way just to ride my bike for 38 days across the country. I'm sure he will take a day in Cali to rest once they get there. You mentioned desert.........I seen him yesterday with his new tires on the bike...they are gatorskin tires. He said there are some sort of thorns that blow across the road in the desert and they can puncture regular tires.....hopefully he has thought of everything. |
Good afternoon Indiana Ford fans! It's 92° here in Central Illinois now, expecting to hit a high of 97° today. Everyone keep it cool.

They stayed in Joplin Missouri overnight and now are heading for New Mexico on the trip to get to Cali to start the ride.
IDES has done a tremendous amount of rebuilding in Joplin. |
They made it to Oceanside California yesterday. They will start the bike ride across the country on Sunday.
|
Yesterday was an 80+ mile ride and today is a 120 mile ride.

Mark arrived in his hometown of Columbus yesterday and we had a really nice reception for him. His trip has been a life changer, for them as well as others along their way.
Today is a well deserved rest day and tomorrow they will heading east through Indiana towards the east coast. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...id=249919&.jpg |
