1968 F100 Engine Conversion

Looking to swap a 1968 F100 240 6 cyl to V8 as easily as possible. Any suggestions?

Just what flavor of V-8 do you want? Outside of a Mod motor, everything is pretty available stock (67-72, with 73-79 available )with the FE series (352, 360, 390, 410, 427, 428) being the easiest for availability of parts, followed by the Windsors (289, 302, 351W), the Clevelands (351C, 351M, 400), with the 385 series (429, 460) having the worst availability of finding conversion parts as it is mostly aftermarket from L&L Products and a few other companies.

I've always been a fan of the 289 and 302. I've had both in other models but never tried to convert to them. Will they bolt directly in or is does it require some conversion? I've had this truck for around 20 years and someone along time ago had told me you had to replace the crossmember in order to drop a V8 in it.

The FE is the easiest as you can just slide your engine towers to the next bolt hole. With the Windsors, you have to find a 302 equipped donor truck with towers or you can find a dentside model equipped with a 302, 351M or 400 for the towers.

thanks man. that's just the advice i've been looking for.

Your bell housing will also fit the small block windsor engines.

I will be doing a similar swap but I already have the 351w that I'm pulling out of my old mustang. How hard is it swap the towers? I also converted the mustang to disc brakes from a Granada can I use them on my 1969 F100?
