Wrap around rear bumpers

I still have my "wrap around rear bumper" on my 1956 truck. I know very few people keep these but I hope to keep mine. I need to find the rubber that is sandwiched between the edge of bumper and rear portion of rear fenders. Mine is totally missing, I need to find ANYTHING that is ORIGINAL to work with.

Thank You

I've always liked the old wrap around bumpers.
When I need rubber for that type of thing I let my fingers do the walking in the local yellow pages. Look for a gasket and seal company, or a mining supply company, etc.
I've gotten lucky several times in the past and was able to the chunks of rubber sheet from gasket and seal companies for free out of the cut pile or "drop" bin

Good luck
Bobby

45- or 60-mil pond liner will work. Might have to buy a lot more than you need, but it isn't expensive.

The wrap around bumper I pulled off my project F-3 M-H didn't have any rubber between the fenders and bumper ends. But if I reuse it I think I could use old inner tubes to create a cushion on each side. Stu

Mine had nothing, too. It got bumped on the bumper so it tore the hell out of the fender.

Here is how mine looked when I first got it

That's my exact bumper, Ross. My truck spent its working life in the Flagstaff area as I was told, so it's not surprising that the same aftermarket bumper might have been supplied to different dealers in the region. Stu

I'm always amazed at how many old guys put reflectors on the backs of their tailgates 'back in the day'.
:)

Mine has a tag that says it was made by Commercial Body Corp. in San Antonio TX, in the coved part near the trailer ball.

I couldn't bear to connect it up to my new fenders so I trimmed it up.

Wayne, you can see how many reflectors used to be on my tailgate!
