Styleside Mounting to Chassis

Hi all,

I'm working on remounting the styleside box to the chassis in my '60 F100. According to my manual, it lists the usual 7/16-20 carriage and hex bolts, nuts, and washers. The middle mounts have the usual wood blocks that I remade based on the drawings I found elsewhere on this forum. Those sit right on the chassis. It's the front and rear mount that I'm questioning. Is there anything that goes between the chassis and the steel of the reinforcement channel that is part of the box floor? I took it apart 2 years ago and everything was slopped out or missing. I know the other box styles use some tire carcass according to the parts manual but this styleside doesn't appear to use anything. Should I just mount the box tight to the chassis and let 'er ride?
Can anyone help me out?

Thanks all,

Nick in WI

Tire Carcass

Thanks for the reply! Tire carcass even under the wood blocks?

Mine had nothing between the wood and frame, but the mounting kits supply rubber pads for all bolt locations. You could easily improvise with material from the hardware store.

I put a thin layer (+/- 1/8") of rubber between all mounts on the bed.
