TorqShift
I am thinking of upgrading and looking at a '05 Chateau E350. It has the V-10 and I want to confirm it has the TorqShift. It has the transmission code of "T" on the build sticker.
Can anyone confirm? A web search has not reviled anything yet. Thanks, Michael |
iirc 2005+ V10 E350 only came with it.
does the dipstick say only sp fluid? |
|
what does the labels on the trans read?
|
does it have "TOW/HAUL' on the column shifter?
|
I am looking at this van long distance. The dealer is very helpful and I have a picture of the build sticker on the door jam. That is where the "T" code came from. I ran the vin in the link above and it did not list the transmission. The dealer advertises it as a 5-speed. I am assuming it is but want to be sure. If it has the tow/haul on the shifter is that confirmation? Trying to get it all figured out before I fly across the country to pick it up.
Thanks, Michael |
The only automatic it could be is the TorqShift. The last year for the 4R100 was 2004.
The VIN does not have any information about the transmission. |
While I am reasonable sure it is a 5R110 if you PM me the VIN I can confirm it.

Thanks Jimmy, I am trying to figure out how to PM on this forums but till then.
1FMNE31S35HB42548 Any possibility for a full oasis report? Michael |
I got an oasis report today and it does have a TorqShift. Now after reading some more on this site I found out that after '99 not all E350's had full floating rear axles. Without physically looking at the diff is there any way to tell from the axle code (34) or from the equipment? V-10, tow package, Torqshift?
Michael |
axle code 34 is "34 — 3.73 ratio, non-limited slip (Dana)" per the ford service manual.
For full float vs semi-float, you will have to look at the rear hub. If there are 8 bolts (not lugnuts, bolts) then its full float. If there is a dust cap or a concave hub area then its semi-float. |

|
So axle code 34 is not specifically a full or semi floating axle? It only designates that it is 3.73 and Dana? and could be either?
Michael |
Well, on the label, the rear axle weight rating might tell you. If its under 5500lbs, its probably a semi-float.
|
Label says rear axle is 8700lbs. Can't imagine that being a semi-floating.
Thanks for the help. Michael |
