$7,200 spent this morning on building materials, and it all fit into the bed of my 02 shortbox in one load...

fordpride 05-12-2012 01:16 PM

Does it hurt when you walk. Lol

tjc transport 05-12-2012 01:26 PM

I think you should have to beable to change a tire to get a license.

That would knock down the bad women drivers around here....

Oh, I didn't say that..}>

fordpride 05-12-2012 08:14 PM

Lol. But if you ask them they drive great it's you that can't drive

427 fordman 05-12-2012 08:17 PM

Just like the one that was texting and drove right through a 4 way stop when I was sitting at the stop sign watching her yesterday....

fordpride 05-12-2012 08:25 PM

My old man has worked for the shreffs dept. for 37years and he said ever since texting came out they see more and more fatal accidents with texting then alcohol every year

427 fordman 05-12-2012 08:29 PM

I just saw on tv or heard on the radio the other day (can't remember which), it was more dangerous to text than be drunk. I can't remember how much, but I thought it was quite a bit. The same show said teenagers who have just one passenger have a 48% higher rate of accidents than driving alone. I remember that number.

fordpride 05-12-2012 08:36 PM

That's why I like what ford did with the "my key" it limits the speed, vol of the radio and make the gas light come on early than normal not that it make it any better to text and drive but a wreck at 60 is better than one at 75-80

427 fordman 05-12-2012 08:42 PM

I've never heard of that. But I really never check into new vehicles at all. That is a good idea. Man, if I'd have had something like that when I was a teen, no street racing, that would have been a change and probably kept me out of a lot of trouble..

My 04 minivan I bought is way too new for me...

I made my daughter learn to change the oil, check all the fluids, and change a tire by herself and drive a stick shift before I would let her get her license. She thought I was mean and too old fashioned.

Then came the day when she was a junior in high school and some boy who was a senior had a flat tire in the parking lot. The boy was on his cell phone to his dad complaining about the flat and asking for help. Whining about not wanting to walk home or have to change it himself.

My daughter, who was one of those "in crowd" girls walked up to him since she was parked close by, handed him her books, shoved him out of the way and said something like, stop whining, it's not that hard, and then proceeded to change his tire for him.

She knew where to find the jack, tire, and stuff, knew where to put it and how to do it, and since she was one of the cool girls, and school had just let out, it drew a crowd. She made some smart a$$ comment when she was done and left. Not a good move on the boys part, especially since this is in a town of 1,200 people. I think 3/4 of the town ended up hearing the story. I know all my daughters girlfriends spent the next 2 weeks telling me the story over and over. I know that boy never would look me in the eye again. His dad avoids eye contact now too if we just pass by aside from the polite wave.

When I wanted to learn to drive... My parents made us ( sister and I) learn on stick or not at all! I already knew how to drive anything as long as it didn't have wings, but my sister didn't. I plan to do the same to my daughter when the time comes. She's only 3 and already Hands me tools

Good thing you didn't post the other text I sent you

chicagodragon 05-13-2012 11:21 PM

This is going longer than the beer thread I started

Talyn 05-14-2012 08:49 AM

Thats because my off topic threads are the best.

Something I've been finding really annoying lately is how everyone is saying all other guns are glock copies, or how glock is so much better. blah blah blah.

Glock is a great gun.

But if it was so great, there wouldn't be all these other guns people are using.

And last I checked, most of the comp shooters are shooting 1911 variants, not glocks.

chicagodragon 05-14-2012 09:50 AM

I really don't like my glock

Talyn 05-14-2012 10:01 AM

I'd really like my Steyr, but the guy I had it sent too (stupid ffl crap) closed early on saturday so I couldn't pick it up, and he's closed on mondays.

WTF!

Not a big fan of the Glocks either... it's a marketing thing mostly. I much prefer my Springfield XD to the Glocks I have shot. It has features the Glock doesn't have, works flawlessly and was about $200 less than a comparable Glock.

Talyn 05-14-2012 02:52 PM

Glocks do seem overpriced.

Granted my Steyr I just baught was expensive, but not as bad as a glock can be.

Glock does make some good guns.

Its always amusing to hear people say Steyr is a glock copy or glock knockoff.
..
Guy who designed a lot of the glock features designs Steyr...
Oh my. =)

F350-6 05-14-2012 06:18 PM

Glock was a pioneer in the plastic pistol market. That doesn't always equate to best.

Colt was lucky enough to have JMB design the 1911 with their name stamped on the side of it. Colt doesn't make the best 1911 and Glock doesn't make the best plastic pistol in my opinion, even though they were both the pioneers of their market.

I've never been a fan of the Glock though. Shot one when they first came out here and wasn't impressed. Don't like the grip angle, trigger, not real fond of the take down procedure, etc.
