Need a second set of eyes please!

Morning all,
I need a little help and hoping someone nearby can help. My truck seems to have a leak I can't track and need a second set of eyes to track it (and tell me if its not serious). Live in Chapel Hill. As it's my only vehicle, I'm kinda in semi panic mode. Can be reached @ 919 408 7463. Hope desperately to hear thanks!

Can you see the seep hole on top of the waterpump shaft on the front? If so is it wet?

cpeters1965 04-21-2012 12:55 PM

No I can't not sure what I am looking for.

wp120470 04-21-2012 01:12 PM

Ok. On the front of your engine. Standing on the drivers side of the hood latch, look down at the belt drive system. the pulley right in the middle should be the water pump. Right behind the pulley is the front of the waterpump shaft. sometimes when the bearings go out, the seal fails and the hole, on the front top, of the waterpump shaft gets wet where the leak originates. it helps to use a bright flashlight.

just took a look again with the info you gave, it is dry

Ok look at the bottom of the radiator see if it is wet. Maybe the seam on the side of the radiator is lwaking.

cpeters1965 04-21-2012 06:15 PM

Right now everything is looking dry underneath.

Have you checked the fluid levels of the engine? Oil?Tranny? Radiator? Power steering? Brake? We need to know to be able to help.

cpeters1965 04-22-2012 05:13 AM

Yes I have all fluids look good and are up to level, no water in the oil

wp120470 04-23-2012 05:42 AM

Then I would say that is is not an emergency and you should have your local garage check it out as soon as possibile.

wp120470,
Thank you for all the assistance. I am the mechanic so is why was asking for a second set of eyes. Still asking for them. Drove to work today (16 miles) and checked it. Definately leaking, looks to be where you stated under the water pump, but want a second opinion with somebody looking with me before I proceed. Just had 15 yr old out of hospital so there is no spare cash available for garage rates :-(
