Budd 19.5" x 6" Tubeless Wheels - 5 Lug x 8" Pattern - Two Sets
I have available two sets of tubeless 19.5" x 6" truck wheels having the 5 lug x 8" bolt pattern. One set of seven, the other a set of six. They are Budd #89340. They are in good shape with no pot hole bends, structural rust, or other significant issues. They are at my son's place in Oregon and can be shipped. They are $85 per wheel plus the amount it took to pull and dispose of the dead tires. The exact amount will depend on which set is purchased, but is about $8 per tire. Shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer. My son and I will help with shipping coordination and will deliver to the shipper. Below is a picture of the wheels. If you have questions please ask. Stu

I went picking this week and came home with another set of these Budds, but these have tires. Two of the tires are really nice new looking Bridgestones, the other five have good tread but are sun cracked. Same money, but if you live close enough to pick these up you'd save shipping and at least have tires to help you get rid of your widowmakers. Stu

Stu,
I definitely want one set or the other, but my inclination is to go with the set which has tires provided the shipping isn't too much more, and quality is similar, also would prefer a seven wheel set. I am new to the FTE so I don't know the protocul for purchasing. My e-mail is jack.hill.001@gmail.com if that is an easier contact. |
Jack - I'll email you. Stu

Stu:
I am also a newbie and just bought a 48 F4 this week and would go for an available set of 19.5s to be shipped to Wisconsin. Email is jcbroke60@gmail.com. Jon |
Welcome to the group Jon. Glad to see another F-4 being saved. I'll email you. Stu

These three sets now have good homes. Stu

Wheels
Stu,
I just came across your wheel post and I think I'm to late for these wheels but if you should find another set I am looking for six. My name is Jim Jatho and I live in Augusta, GA I recently found a '48 F5 flatbed dump that I am restoring for use around our farm and maybe parades with the kids. I have ten wheels but 8 are "widow makers" and two have split ring that I would rather not use. I am new to the forum and can't believe all the information I have already found. What a great site. BTW if anyone can tell me how the mechanical dump cyclinder is put together I would appreciate it. Jim |

My son has another set of the Budd R89340s available. It's a set of six, same details and description as the above listing. He may also have a second set available soon, but I'll add details about them later. Below is a picture of the currently available set. Stu
|
The second set mentioned above is also now available. Here's a picture of that set of six. Same details and description as the others. Stu

I need a set of 6 for my 62 F500. Will these fit, and do you still have a set still available? This is the only thing left to do before she gets put back on the road! Ted

Im in New Jersey, so I dont think ill be able to drive out to get these, but I can see if shipping is an option. What condition are the wheels and is your price still 85/wheel? What shipping carriers do you usually use, or is it an option you would not consider? Thanks for the quick reply
|
Oops, sorry, I misread things. Yes, my son and I have each shipped these sets several times. We've had good service from R&L Carriers. The depot is near my son's place, and they seem workable with either delivery or pickup on your end. The price is $85 each. One set was found with tires already removed so that will be some savings for you. Shipping might be another matter. I'd think you might be in the $300+ range, but obviously you'll want to call the carrier to learn specifics. My son's zip code is 97217 which will help you get the shipping estimate. Stu

With spring coming it's time to bring this back to the top. My son now has another couple of sets of the Budd #89340s available. I'll rely on the above pictures since the wheels always look exactly alike. A set of these is a very good replacement option for the widow makers that are found on the '48 and later big trucks having the 5 lug x 8" bolt pattern. Price is $85 each plus the $8.00 tire disposal fee. The wheels are located in Portland, Oregon. Stu

oh wow! that's good news. I actually ended up going a different route with mine. Going to frame swap it. Cab is off and on a dolly in the garage. But someone should really get these, they could literally be a lifesaver.

I am interested in a set of 6. I live by Seattle and can drive down to pick them up next weekend. Can you please email me if you still have a set left samrondeau84@gmail.com thanks.

Hi Sam, yes we have a set. I'll email you direct. Stu

Hello
Im new to the site . Do you have any of these rims left? I need 6 for my 1952 Mercury COE. Thanks |
I forgot to say Im in Canada and shipping may kill me but I just cant find any around my area. Dont really need them in a hurry I just looking for when Im alittle closer to driving it.
|
Yes, I have a set, but at present they are at my son's place in Oregon. A long way from Nova Scotia! I will, however, be going out there in June and will haul wheels back to Illinois. That would probably cut shipping by 50%. If this interests you June isn't that far off.
BTW, nice truck. Stu |
How much for 6 of them whats the size 19.5?
|
The wheels are Budd #89340. They are tubeless 19.5" x 6" wide and are best fitted with 8R19.5" tires. This tire size will be 33.5" or 34" outside diameter. Assuming you now have 7.00" or 7.50" x 20" tires these will be 36"-37" diameter. The shorter 19.5" tire will impact the speedometer readings, but won't be too small to visually fit the truck. These tires are very close in diameter to the 7.00 x 18" tires that were optional on the F-4 series. I charge $85 per wheel plus the $8.00 fee I must pay for dead tire removal and disposal. So, $93 total cost to you times six is $558. Hope that covers it. If added questions please ask. Stu

How would I ship them?
UPS? |
The company that I have had good service from when shipping wheels is R&L Carriers. Their toll free number is (800)543-5589. They securely shrink wrap the wheels to a pallet, and generally deliver to either their depot in your area or to a business address. I don't know what they'd say about delivery to a residential address, you'd want to ask about that. In your case there would be customs paperwork to handle too. I'd suggest calling them to get a quote. The wheels weigh 45 lbs each, and the pallet around 20 lbs. Six wheels is generally about 300 lbs, or seven wheels a little less than 350. I would be shipping from zip code 62563. They do ship C.O.D. When you call they will give you a Quote Number that I would need, along with your address and contact information, when I drop them off at the local depot. Hope that answers it. If not please say. Hello truckdog
I am looking for 6 or 7 wheels. 5 lug on 8in 22.5 or 19.5 stud piloted. I don't want to jump in front of anyone, but you can let me know what is available. I just purchased a 55 F500 3 weeks ago and have been trying to decide whether to swap frames to f100 size or keep it big. Finding wheels makes me feel better about keeping it original. I actually know where another 55 F500 is so I may be needing 2 full sets. thanks! |
I can take care of you with 19.5s, two sets if needed, or my friend Josh Madsen I believe can fix you up with one set of 22.5s. You just need to decide which you want. I will be bringing a few sets of 19.5s back to Illinois at the end of June, which would save you shipping costs to TN, or you could come pick them up. Josh lives in the Salt Lake City area and I'm sure would ship his set to you. The sets that I have available are 19.5" x 6" and would use 8R19.5" radial tires. Josh's I believe are 22.5" x 5.25". These were designed for either a 7" or 8" wide tire, but the narrowest available today is a 9R22.5" radial. Guys use these tires on the narrow rims and report they work fine. The 8R19.5" tire will be about 33.5" to 34" tall, while the 9R22.5s will be 38" or taller. You'll need to compare these measurements to your present 20" tube type tires. The 22.5" is the direct replacement for the 20". The 19.5" is a shorter tire and you'd have to factor in some speedometer error, but they look and fit fine. Hope that covers it. If you have other questions please say. Stu

Will you be going through TN in june with wheels. Do you have a FedEx facility close enough to ship them through? I can get a pretty good rate with them.
Thanks, Gene |
No, won't go that far east. Will travel straight to central Illinois. I haven't checked on Fed Ex trucking previously, but could investigate if you have had good service from them in the past. Use of R&L has been very good to work with on this end. You might do a cost comparison. The wheels weigh 45 lbs each, and with pallet would be about 300 lbs for six or 350 lbs for seven. I would be shipping from zip 62563. Stu
|
OK. I will check R&L too. Thanks.
