01 excursion cuts out while drive and starts surging

Its the wifes car so it hardly ever does it to me. Driving down the road and all of a sudden there is no pedal and the idle is really low and surging. Pull the car over, turn it off and restart it and its back to normal for a day or so. Having already replaced the icp sensor and cam sensor within the last 8 months for different issues which were resolved i went with a new pedal assembly. Not the problem. I am leaning towards dropping tank and pulling screens from pickup tube. Before I pull tank input would be nice. Thanks!

More info. Never any codes, have ids at work. Only mods are exhaust, air filter and edge ez.

it won't run if you don't have fuel psi. Maybe you have a uvch coming loose. Does it some or have injector knock when it does this? Or does it shut off n turn back on again, like if you did it with the ignition key?

Not sure what uvch is. It doesn't die or have any knocks. You are driving and petal just stops working and the engine is running at low idle surging. You pullover and turn key off and restart and it's back to normal running.

Uvch-under valve cover harness
They work themselves loose. Is there a chip in it? Could have a bad connection.

Thanks for clearing the abbreviation uvch up....lolol I also had no idea. Being new to the site the abbreviations tossed around here can be very intimidating.

Sorry, just get used to typing them.

I would start be pulling that Edge "tunner" in your sig ;). You need to isolate whether the problem is mod or truck.

Is it possible you are overlooking any other mods like tail lights or stereo?

bigfordandjeep 04-19-2012 09:05 AM

The edge ez isn't a tunner and pulling it has no effect on the issue have tried that. It just plugs inline with icp sensor like a 10k mod.

Woops.... I see I got mixed up. Wrong vehicle. I didn't know what an Edge EZ was, I just saw "Edge" and "Tuner", then I thought "Pull" - natural progression.

There's mention of rough running in this [LINK]

Pulled a cam senser code today. Its only 6-8 months old, could it have caused all this?

diesel-fitter-bum01 04-22-2012 08:10 PM

Possibly I have bought bad ones right from the store.
