Current Local Fishing Reports.........
 

I stopped by the dam at Skiatook Lake on Friday morning to test the waters for the first time this year. The water was still 9+ feet low and clear. Also i think it was still very cold. The crappie were in the deeper wate but when they struck it was not a hard strike and run. It was a single thud and felt like dead weight on the line. Hopefully this rain will bring the lake level up and the ground temps will start rising soon.


Anybody else have any local current fishing reports?

I learned some thing new from a tournament fisherman yesterday: "Wind from the East-fish bite the least. Wind from the South-fish bite with open mouth. Wind from the West-Fish bite the best. Wind from the North-just stay home." That is actually sound advice. I've never heard that before but have been trying to get out to fish when the wind blew from the south, not the north. And when i went to Skiatook last Friday the wind was blowing from the East. That explains the poor fishing.
