My A/C on life support

http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...e/photo-50.jpg

This is the first time I've ever had to work on my A/C. My high side line started leaking at one of the crimps

I'm pulling a vacuum now I know the low side should be around 40-50 psi but what should the high side be no more than?

Glenn your bad luck is running down this way you can have it back are send it to Darin. :) lol

Hey Mike, I don't want it too bad, I seem to have enough of my own!:D

AC work I leave to someone who knows what the %^&* he is doing. Good luck with that, I'm not that person..

Your High side is going to vary quite a bit depending on how hot the air going through the condenser is. it wont go beyond what the high pressure switch is set for. The system will have stopped cooling by that time though. At 60deg F it will have a vapor pressure @ 57.5 PSIG. At 95 it will be 114 psig that doesnt include heat from compression dirty condensers and such. This chart will help you work on your A\C system successfully. :-jammin

it also occurs to me that the auto store cans of 134 have a nice gauge to at least get you close so i wouldnt worry about over charging it. stick a thermometer in the vent while its charging so you can see that point when its at its coldest.

Dang mike I feel your pain. Since I've owned my truck the AC would make you put a sweater on. This year nothin. I haven't even begun to trouble shoot it yet, just like Ohio, 80 one week, 50 the next...

I can take the heat, but that kind of humidity would kill me. It's bad enough here!

What were you saying about bad luck?? Looks like both of ours got better! Glad you got it fixed, I've always said that if the cruise and ac don't work they are going to be fixed right away.
