Good question, I'd like to know too. That's why I'm subscribing. I would imagine they all come from the same place and price would be according to how close the vender is from the shipping docks.

IMHO, you may be better off taking a drive and fetching your new hood. Last time I checked the freight/shipping/handling/crating on a hood was over $250 for about a 500 mile trip (that was 3 years ago). I took a trip to my nearest supplier and made a weekend of it. I would rather put gas in my tank and have a nice roadtrip with the family than give the freight company my money. Also, too many chances with shipping damages and/or the supplier shipping a less than decent hood. Almost all companies give the disclaim that they can't be held responsible for "minor" tweaking, dings, scratches in the product. I know the metal stampings are shipped from overseas. I prefer to pick it up in person and look over things. Just my opinion. Almost all retailers are going to get their hoods from the same manufacturer. Might want to check out NPD (think they have a place in Florida) or Dennis Carpenter. I love Mid-Fifty but they are in Arizona and you are in Florida. As for 56panelford, my buddy in Canada drives over the border to NPD (National Parts Depot) near Detroit and saves a lot of headache that way.

I know a guy who used a repro hood on his 55 build and he said the shop that did the work had to get 4 of them before they got one that wasn't damaged severely or just plain didn't fit right. That's a lot of return freight costs if you can't convince whoever you bought it from that it was their fault or get the freight company to pay the claim. In this case, I think the guy was off the deep end with how much he spent on his truck build, so I think he swallowed the cost of all the hoods himself just due to more money than patience. But based in his experience, I wouldn't buy one unless I could see it in person before paying a dime for it. I'd rather take my chances with an original that needed repair.

Btw, if you want an example of how off the deep end this guy was, he gave me a stainless set of Altman door latches for my truck ($400 value) for free just because he changed his mind and decided to go back to original latches.

Same here: first one was poorly packaged and had a HUGE dent right in the center of the hood. 2nd and third also damaged (major dents). I opened them in the presence of the driver and refused delivery each time. 4th hood was actually crated and reinforced all the way around: no damage.

The driver may not like it, but don't sign for delivery until you have checked it !!

Come out to the F100 Western Nationals in June and buy one there...no shipping cost and the best pricing, not to mention the great truck show to boot.

June 23rd in Anaheim California according to their site: f100 Western Nationals

Unfortunate as I'll be down in southern California 3wks earlier visiting family. Why can't vacations ever coincide with truck shows? I need to plan better!

Our sister chapter, Pickups Limited of Orange County, puts on the Western Nationals. Our club, Pickups Limited of San Diego, has a show (Fords & Friends Picnic) two weeks earlier at Felicita Park (off the 15 just south of Escondido). The Fords & Friends show is not Ford or even truck-specific but there are many very nice early Ford trucks there, espcially from the host club and chapters. Check out the website at www.pickupslimitedsandiego.com

The LA Roadster show is also right around this time, usually on Fathers Day, as well.
