Welcome to the April Chat Thread

Happy new month everyone!

We had a cookout at the office last night, man the ribs were good. I came back to my room and watched the Truck race on the internet since AFN does not play it live. :'(

Hope everyone is having a good weekend !!!!

Took a nap after breakfast, walked out of the room and it was snowing, you never know what to expect here. It is pretty much gone now, just a flurry and not a bad as it was in January. We had snow up to our waist.

armyman20057 04-01-2012 01:21 PM

Armyman,
I am deployed to Kosovo right now and kind of limited on the planning stuff. I highly encourage everyone else to try and make plans to get together.

My plans are to find one event in the state that is convient to everyone and try and make that the yearly event get together.

Please come back often and post if nothing more than to just say HI.:-wink
I am guessing you are in the Ft Stewart area?

Weekend update:
After we thought that spring was here in Europe APRIL FOOLS it snowed, still cold and overcast today. My family went to a charity event at the American Legion for a fallen police officer. The Legion found out I was in the military and deployed so I am now a member of the local American Legion :-jammin along with the VFW. The local news story is here- Remembering Cliff Rouse - WALB.com, Albany News, Weather, Sports

The Legion has Charity bike rides and my wife has informed me that we are now going to get a Harley and ride with the Legion. We had a bike before but not a Harley.

I wonder how the 1979 would look as a Harley Edition Clone ????

Good Morning Everyone.
Chief, I hope you dug out from under the Kosovoian Blanket of White

Grubb: How was the car show? Any special rides to tell us about.

On a personal note, I spoke with the gentleman who is known for building strong engines in my neck of the woods. I told him that I was looking to replace the 360 with a 390. He gave me a sly grin and asked me to follow him. In the lower pasture there was an old delivery vehicle of some kind. Passenger Car with no back seat and huge springs underneath it. I am not sure what was being delivered, but apparently it was heavy and the delivery schedule must have been real tight. We slapped in a battery and he put some gas in the carb, and believe it or not this bad boy roared to life. I am waiting on him to call me back on a rebuild price. :D

armyman20057 04-02-2012 08:13 AM

What are you doing over there in Kosovo?
I wish I was back over at ft Stewart. I'm stationed at ft benning right now, tried to get back to stewart and branch said they didn't have any slots so I ended up in this hell hole.

ChiefM 04-02-2012 09:08 AM

Army,
I am full time Guard and we got one of the missions over here, not a bad Gig after Iraq and Afghanistan. I run a maintenance shop in Albany for the Guard- just south of you. I was stationed at FSGA many moons ago. We will have to hook up when I get back.

Kool,
The snow is gone now, just a little dusting but cold as all get out this morning. Look in grubs thread about the show, he has pictures and a link to many more. Awesome on the engine find.

Looked at Grubs rebuild thread this weekend, you do good work.:-jammin

Hey MCDavis:-wink

I hope to get all of us together at least once a year.

armyman20057 04-02-2012 09:20 AM

And thanks for the compliment, but my work is not as good as some of the others on here.

I am at Camp Bondsteel. I was a 63Eh8- M60 mechanic then M1 mechanic, Now a M915 Maintenance Warrant Officer 3.

I was in 3/69 Armor at Ft Stewart for Desert Storm when it was 24th ID. Showing my age.
I am off softball practice. :)

Grub,
You are doing great work!!

ChiefM 04-03-2012 01:35 AM

In case you want to check out what we are doing here in Kosovo.

The Guardian - April 2012

The snow is gone now but you can see how it was in December thru March.

armyman20057 04-03-2012 04:06 AM

Camp bondsteel sound like something I heard my father talk about before. I also remember hearing him talk about eagle base. He was a combat engineer so I think he was building bases when he was over there. he said he did some secret squirrel stuff when he was over there, don't know what though lol. Yeah if I'm still stationed here when you return we will have to get everyone together.

ChiefM 04-03-2012 09:03 AM

Eagle Base was in Bosnia- I was there too:)

Just got done with 8 hrs of computer data input, I think my eyes are bleeding :'(.
