F-150 Electrical problems and mayhem
 

Ok i have a 2002 F-150 4X4 supercrew, last night driving home in the rain with my wipers on, the chaos started. While driving, the wipers would quit on and off, the power locks, interior dome light, power windows, and the 4x4 light all started going on and off. I went to start it today and it just kept cranking at first. waited a couple minutes and it started right up. I take the key out with the doors shut and some of the dash light go on and off, as well as the door open bell or seat belt bell. (all with key out) i left for a couple hours and came back and had a dead battery i assume due to the electrical system going on and off with the key out. Checked fuses and they are all good, under the hood too...everything appears to be dry as well. I have never come across this before and am baffled? Any similar problems with anyone else, or heard of this?

There is a box above the steering column, under the windshield. If you have a minor leak in the windshield rubber gasket, the water gets into the electric connections and shorts things out and funny things happen. Get it inside and dry, heat inside the cab, then see if all is well.. You might need to pull the windshiled and install new rubber / seal. Hopefully the electics are not corroded. No water on the drivers floor- or damp spot ?

thanks for the answer, and nothing appears wet. also, i just tried to charge the battery but it would not charge.

still going crazy 12 hours later and the battery will not charge now...
