428, very well could be, but not 429. John :-X06 |
ya but thier both fe motors so y would the bolts be different..

429 is not an FE. 427 and 428 are.
If I'm not mistaken, the 429/460 have different bore spacing than an FE. That alone would prevent the possibility of swapping the heads. |
but its not a normal 360 cuz it was made 4 a motorhome
|
429/460 has a different bore spacing, and the interface between the intake and head is very different. The pushrods on the FE are outside the head, between the intake runners, and the valve covers overlap the intake. The pushrods on the 429 are fully within the heads, and the valve covers only cover the heads.

It's not a special 360. They are all the same. They aren't going to cast a completely different block, with completely different bolt patterns and bore spacing just for a motorhome and still call it an FE 360.

well could thay be 428 then cuz the guy said thier not normal 360 heads

Also, you have a keyboard that is easy to type on and contains every single letter of the English alphabet and associated punctuation. You could at least try and put some effort into your posts in exchange for our help. |
360 -429
If I remember correctly Ford made a 370 version of the 385 series that was used in the BIG trucks, Where is the Number Dummy when we need him. I am sure he can straighten this out. Kenny Nunez

Ford did make a 370 medium truck engine. Same stroke as the 429, smaller bore. A real pooch. Almost NOTHING from those engines interchanges with an FE, least of all the heads. IMPOSSIBLE, as noted previously, the bore spacing is 4.90" for a 370/429/460 and 4.63" for the FE.
A 360 with 428 heads, maybe. Keep in mind 428 heads are, in the run-of-the-mill passenger car application, the same as 390 heads. And in pickup applications, 390 heads are the same as 360 heads. There could be some slight differences between late '60s car heads and some pickup heads from the same era. The most common 360/390 pickup head found is the D2.. head, from 1972 and up, with hardened valve seats. So, are there casting numbers on those heads? Even with the most tricked out 428 SCJ heads, it is still a 360, and still a pooch. And the 428 heads did not have hardened valve seats, so in a motor home with unleaded gas, they would last about 20,000 miles, as the poor 360 would be running WOT most of the time. WOT + the buttery old seats + unleaded gas = burned valves. |

Don't know what size motor home you got the engine from, but FT 330s, & 361s were used. They look very much like a FE but are built for heavier truck use. John :-X06 |
ya i am going to go find some numbers on it
|
on the heads their is c8aeh on each side
|
thoses heads r 68-70 390-428 heads
