Mud flaps, what to get?

I just picked up my 2012 F250 CC SB 4x4 Lariat Golden Bronze Metalic with the FX4 and Camper Package and other goodies and need to know what are the best mud flaps for these trucks to protect the lower body panels.

Share what you have and pictures if you have them. I want to get them ordered. Right now I am trying to decide between the Weathertech and Husky mud flaps.

Thanks in advance for your help.

LOVE the truck!!!!

I went with these -

Air Hawk Industries : Mud Flaps - Grille Inserts - Box Liners

I'm very happy with them. The install was a breeze, they're very solid, and they protect really well. I like the look of them too, they're real stainless and nicely done.

Sorry I don't have any pics yet, hopefully in the next day or two I'll get around to it.

gsxr1300 03-20-2012 09:57 AM

I like the weather tech no drill mud flaps

FishingNut 03-20-2012 10:27 AM

x2 on the Weathertech mudflaps! :)

chperry 03-20-2012 11:44 AM

X3 on Weathertech.

Ezcmpny 03-20-2012 11:56 AM

I have the Husky, cheapest place I found was on Amazon. You do have to drill a couple holes but they're very easy to install. I have the factory 20" wheel/tire setup and on the fronts I could turn the tires enough to do the install. On the rears I had to remove the tire so I had enough room to run the screw gun. Very happy with the final product.

milsuper 03-20-2012 12:20 PM

Mine came with Ford front and rear mud flaps and wheel liners from Ford factory. I have 2012 F-350 CC DRW King Ranch, and so far absolutely happy with the current set up. No problems driving on muddy and gravel roads...as I tow horse trailers.

paul100 03-20-2012 12:26 PM

I have Duraflap. www.duraflap.com Have them on my 06 and bought them already for the 2012 even though I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. Supposedly built last Friday.

jlalanas 03-20-2012 12:54 PM

x4 on the weathertech's.

magnumacF250 03-20-2012 02:13 PM

I went with the no drill duraflaps. I thought the huskys were to short for much protection on gravel roads, (20 miles of gravel every time I leave the house). I like the air hawks also. never have seen the weathertechs. good luck, there are a lot of great choices.

Ditto on the Huskys. I didn't bother with the one screw that you have to drill on the rears. You have the other that screws up from the bottom and holds it plenty tight. That's 2 screws in the front of the fender, 1 screw from the bottom and 1 screw into the factory flap. They look good and are functional. I paid $40 for each set.

TRENT310 03-20-2012 04:04 PM

What do these look like? I realize mudflaps are not mandatory items but if it reduces the amount of mud I have to clean out from between the lower door jamb then I may consider it.

dmags 03-20-2012 06:08 PM

I installed the Ford Factory "no drill" flaps. I think they are great.I looked at the others and thought they were the best for me.$88.00 For all 4:-X03
They were also very easy to install

smallcandle 03-20-2012 06:57 PM

I've always been very happy with Husky.

brmpipes 03-20-2012 07:40 PM

Bullet proff mudflaps. But im her in Alberta.

KG6EPF 03-20-2012 08:02 PM

Very happy with my Duraflaps. FYI they give you 10% off if you mention this forum when you order.

JCU Delt Ox 03-21-2012 08:54 AM

Another vote for Duraflap!

Fontana 03-21-2012 09:30 AM

I purchased mud flaps from Ford. There is nothing flashy or special about them. They are just black flexible plastic, easy to install, and do a fine job.

B&LLandscaping 03-21-2012 03:25 PM

Not trying to sell anyone on anything, just thought I'd throw up a couple pics of the AirHawks. I should have taken better pics of the mounting (and washed the truck lol), but I installed the Ford OEM rear fender liners, so my install was a little more challenging.

They have both a no drill and a screw on method. The no drill method is really slick, but I used to combination of both just to be sure.

dang I wish I had known about the 10% off for the duraflap flaps.

Hey B&L,
what are the wheel well liners you mentioned? Is there a Ford part number? What kind of price are we talking?
thanks

They were about $120 CDN. I'll check on the part number tonight when I get home.

Overall I'm happy with them, they're a nice addition, they certainly seal up the fender well nicely. I'd probably buy them again, but frankly, they're too much money for what you get. They should be standard equipment, not an expensive "accessory".

caere 03-21-2012 05:18 PM

Are the screws self-tapping or do you drill?

Did you seal the metal after screwing them on to prevent rust? And how would someone do that? I want some just like yours but was concerned about the expose metal from the self tapping screws or drilled holes.

TRENT310 03-21-2012 06:49 PM

They come in a non-chrome version too right? The front grille has far exceeded the chrome quota already for the entire vehicle.

My rental F-350 had really thick mudflaps, like the ones for medium duty trucks but SRW sized. I was meaning to ask where they got them when I returned it, but they processed the return so rapidly I didn't even have time to ask.

mrjc 03-21-2012 07:05 PM

X4 on the Duraflap. No drill, uses existing hole and hardware. Very sturdy, bulletproof stainless steel hardware, 10% off for forum folks. They are works of art and make your truck look like a truck. Mine are ribbed on the tire side allowing mud, snow to run down and off, not stick there. get em!

I did the same, and I could not be happier. Ford log on the splashguard is nice too

Any pcitures of the Dura Flaps on a new SD? I really like the design and the 10% off for forum members and the fact that they are just an hour South of me in Grants Pass, OR!
Thanks for all the great help.
Pat

paul100 03-26-2012 08:36 PM

I thought that there were pictures on the Duraflap web site, but maybe those were older trucks. I have my new duraflaps in hand just waiting for the new truck to show up. In my profile pictures i have some pictures of the duraflaps on my 06 F350.

B&L.....thanks for the part number.

Here's my Duraflaps. I'll have to try to get a better picture. These are the longer ones. Does a great job of protecting the paint. :-X22

SignalMaintainer,
Thanks for the pictures! I was wondering if the long, or the short would be best and I know know the long will work great. I can't tell if you got the ones with the chrome weight strips, or not. I am thinking all black.
Nice Truck!!!
Pat

LabCab 03-27-2012 09:51 AM

Paul,
Thanks for your pictures as well. Did you get the long, or the short for your new truck?
Pat

SignalMaintainer 03-27-2012 02:37 PM

I went without the chrome weight strips. At first I regretted it but I've grown to like the all black look. I can always add them later if I change my mind.

Hi Pat
I have the long on my 06 and bought the long ones again for the 2012. I like to have them long to reduce the risk of debris coming up and hitting the front of my RV.

SignalMaintainer,
Your truck has the 20" wheels doesn't it? I have the 18s, so mine is an inch shorter. I may still go with the longs.
Thanks again to everyone. It is great to see them on trucks.
Pat

SignalMaintainer 03-28-2012 10:01 AM

Yes I have the 20's but that shouldn't matter, the ride height should be the same. You just have more tire than I do. I believe my spare is an 18" and the tire size makes up for the difference. I measured from the bottom of the truck and put a piece of cardboard up to determine the length I wanted. I figured if they were to long I could always cut them. I'm sure you'll be happy either way.

LabCab 03-29-2012 09:33 AM

I have decided on getting the long no drill from Duraflaps. I will get them without the chrome strip on the bottom.
Thanks to everyone for their input and help with this.
Pat

I also have had excellent luck with Husky mud flaps. They are easy to install and I have used them on three Super Duties and two Explorers. The cost is also reasonable.

Twice now I've gone with duraflaps.
