parts needed for a d60 swap
hey guys im picking up a d60 from the junkyard today and i just wanted to know what other parts will i need to make the swap complete. not wanting extras just the parts to get her on the road and the extras i can do at a later time. do i need the f350 steering links for the swap or will the f250 ones work? any info you guys have just shoot away.

I don't know the complete list but I do believe you will need the following:
D60 track bar D60 track bar bracket (bolts to the engine cross member) D60 (F350 Front) Leaf springs D60 Steering linkage, drag link, etc. Longer F350 flexible brake lines (hoses) You may also want to consider grabbing the 4" blocks out of the F350 rear spring pack too since that will give the back end the needed lift to level things up like a F350. Someone else should be able to fill in the holes in my list. Brown Falcon just did this swap, as have several others. Search SFA (or D60) swap and you should get a nice list of results. |
Just a question, Why does he need the f-350 leafs? Wont his work?

Along with everything Nate listed above you will also need the cast piece that goes under the drivers side axle tube that the u-bolts go through.
|
if you get the rear blocks you will need longer u bolts, depending on the year you won't need new brake lines, hopefully you get matching gears. if it were me i would go through the axle and rebuild it. i am sure i am forgetting something

you may need to shorten your front driveshaft unless you grab the 350 if you do get the 350 one you will need the yoke off the front of the transfer case. one of the two i have done i swap driveshaft an done i had shortened an in.

The both trucks(mine and donor) are 96's. what is the difference between the f250 transfercase yoke and f350 one. I didn't go pick it up but I think I will try to work out a deal with the seller to sell me everything as a package deal then, at least the whole front suspension.

the gears and the same as my 3.55's so i'll be ok there. both trucks are 96's will the brake lines be ok? i dont know if i will do a full rebuild but i wil go through the bearing and seals to be on the safe side. how much will i need to shorten the driveshaft if i go that route? |

well the dude at the junkyard cut me a deal for the whole front suspension for $500. the only things im gonna need are the rear spring blocks, and the driveshaft. gonna check if its cheaper to have my driveshaft cut to size or to buy the 350 shaft with the yoke.

my driveshaft shop charge around $70

Mine was to just right. Front drive shaft fit perfect. I'd see before u go threw all the trouble of buy and making one fix.
