LED Mirror Mod - Wire Location?

I purchased the Recon LED lights to replace the factory lamps in my side mirrors (2012 F350). I also bought an LED flasher. Does anyone know where the wires for the lights (in the mirror) might be located in the cab? I've seen several other posts of people trying to do the same thing but there's no good description for doing it on a 2011-2012 F350. Would like to make these lights "strobe" with the LED flasher. Thanks!

The wires enter the cab as part of the plug assembly between the door and the cab. (either side)

While this could be done, doing so will put the lighting control system, a computer these days, into a tail spin. Not sure if your goal is warning or aesthetic.

A better approach might be to run a new wire to an aftermarket LED that you bury inside the fixture, the mirror housing, or attach a surface mount LED to the mirror or mirror mount itself. You can fish the new wires through the mirror post into the door then through one of the holes, (or make your own.) then connect to your flasher.

Mirror LED Mod

So, if I took the LED lights off the "truck wiring" and connected them to my LED Strobe Controller it would cause a problem? The strobe controller is a Whelen ULF44 and has the LED's function normally when not flashing.....

Think it would cause a problem with the truck computer?

It might. One or another of the master techs on here will chime in, but I wouldn't do it to anything in my fleet. The wire bundle on the truck side of the connector is rather difficult to get to and it is surrounded by sharp sheet metal.

I installed LINZ6 units in the fender vents which was a ton simpler than the running of wires to and through the door, which we did for the Roadwatch sensor and the plow controls. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...id=224773&.jpg

You could do the same sort of thing in the mirror with either a LINZ6, TIR 3 or 4, etc. and get a lot more warning punch for your effort.

Thanks

Good advice and thank you for the reply. I think I'll skip it....thought it would be a simpler project.
