okey i have been thinkin about this project for awhile and have been all ovr lookin at pics and how to do it. But would rather make a post and get all the information at once. what do i all have to do to make the 6bt fit in this truck i understand the suspension and drive train need to be upgraded. but where can i get motor mounts that will mount right up to this frame without making them and what tranny should i run prefer auto that can take a beating that aint 1000 to buy at a salvage yard but a 5 speed is okey. and how much other parts for the drive train will i need

This thread might help you some...

Welcome to FTE, thornton32. I'll give a link to a similar build. I hope this helps you.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ins-build.html

I've been keeping track of that build for the past few days.

Enjoy, KBJ

No problem. I'm glad to help you out. If you start this build please start a thread here documenting all the things you did to the truck (hopefully with pictures) during the build.

Count me in for the buildup. There's a pair of good writeups by two different guys on FSB - and I think both double posted the threads here on FTE. Look up the build threads by gos and AmericanThunder over on FSB and here.

Both did very clean, thorough writeups on how they pulled it off. gos' is on a newer chassis, though. AmericanThunder did his on a dentside, so that might be more appropriate for your experience.

cummins 12valve backed up with an NV4500 5 speed would be a good start. check out craigslist oops didnt read that you had an IDI but a ZF5 would back up that 7.3 nicely

Cummins was to much to do swap an I already have a 06 cummins so i was turning to throwing a ford in a ford

Im interested in how this swap goes and how much it will cost you. Im thinking of doing the same thing in an old high boy. Those IDI's are great.

thornton32 06-26-2012 07:32 AM

I bought a whole tuning truck so not much which is nice

you mean $ wise or fabrication wise? I'm guessing the IDI is probably a similar amount of work.
