Crew cab on reg cab frame
 

Well i think I'm going to finally pull it off and get my crew cab built this summer. The plan is that I'm going to take my daily driver a 76 red highboy that i pieced together last year to drive to college. It has done the job up until. Now all the fun wiring problems have started to appear and the cab is just falling apart. It is a factory ac cab so every problem that can come with that has appeared.
So the plan is to put the crew cab on the frame i have now. I'll do some insulation and body work on the crew cab and slap a quick paint job on it. but what i still haven't decided is whether or not to stretch the frame or just throw a short flatbed on it. what do you guys think?
So a few questions i have is how long is a crew cab since i don't have mine close by right now to measure. does anyone have any pictures of a crew cab on a regular cab frame.
And finally how do you post pictures i can't seem to figure that out.

I wouldn't stretch the frame. The flatbed would be cool or chopping a bed down to fit, if you can swing it, would be sweet.

To post pics you have to upload them to a file hosting site like photobucket, I use my facebook page then I can take pics with my phone and upload straight to FB. Then right-click on the picture and select "copy image URL". then some here and in the post type [img] then CTL+V then [/img] (no spaces) and it should post the pic when you hit submit or preview post. It would look like this:

I like the idea of crew cab space and a real short "bobbed" reg bed or flat bed and not the 5 acre turn around needed like I imagine a CC long bed has?

If it works out, please make a build thread.

Thanks for the input. Thats what i was kinda thinking about the frame the only thing is that i won't be able to pull a gooseneck although i don't have to do that real often.
And if anyone has pictures of this build could you put some pics up please.
but my dad just called me the other night and said that he had found a reg cab and flatbed so i'm torn between using that or my crew cab but if i do do the crew cab i will make a build thread

At least the standard cab is a long bed - I was thinking it might be a short bed & the rear tire might hit the cab...

Anyways- should be a cool project and I can't wait to see what you do.

Personally I would shorten the stock bed. Then again I'm not a fan of lengthening frames & not really a flat bed guy either.

Not me. I wanted to, but the timing for getting a crew didn't work out. I was going to to this, but couldn't find a decent priced one. Literally a month after I sold my regular cab, I got one:-arrgh

Do you have a build thread for your crew Teds74ford?

I kind of have one on fordification, but there really hasn't been much "building" on my crew. My regular cab was redone before many people had build threads, so there isn't one on it either.

Do you have any particular questions in mind?

A cummins-powered crew-cab ubershort box. You have my attention. If that crewcab has a dana 60 under the front then I'd snag that too. I don't know much about these 70's trucks but I'm guessing the crewcab is an F350 which would have a dana 60 front end and the F250 has a dana 44.

I know I have seen a crew build like what he is talking about. Just trying to find where I saw it or if i'm remembering correctly. Does your crew still look like your signature picture?

They both do. That was just before I moved. Until I get a place of my own, the dodge sits in the pasture at my sister's house, and the ford is in a snowdrift out behind my dad's barn.:(

Yea sadly the crew cab is a f250 and has a light duty 44 under it but for the moment i'm content with my 44 hd
Hopefully i can get started on it this week i'll post up pics of my progress.
