Will they fit?

I have to goto the West Coast to pick up two F100 short bed trucks. My question is can I get both picks on one 20' car hauler? I know it will be tight, but I think they will fit. Any and all input welcome.

Just a guess, but I would say nope.

I think it will be close. The good thing is the second truck can have the bed hanging off the back. As long as both axles fit on I think it will be ok with the Overhang. Most likely it will not fit knowing my luck.

Does anyone know the total length of a short bed 1959 F100?

spurredon 03-06-2012 07:11 PM

A short box wheel base is 110 inches. I just went out and measured the overall of my '60 shortbox and it is aprox. 188". Good luck!:D

How is that possible? A short bed pickup will fit on a 6x12 Uhaul Auto Transport with almost zero overhang. That would be 144". Yours is a lot longer. That makes no sense.

spurredon 03-07-2012 07:19 PM

So you were expecting someone to tell you a number under 144"? After reading your post I put my coat and boots on and went out to the barn and measured my truck twice to be sure. Maybe I can't see, that has happened before.:) With the wheel base being 110", which is measured center of axel to center of axel, with only adding the additional width of the wheels and tires you will be over 140". That is not counting any of the body hanging in front of the front wheels or behind the back wheels.

I hope they fit for you!

Haha that was pretty funny. I don't think there is a chance they'll fit. Haha

No chance, none. Get a bigger trailer.
I am going after 2 shortbeds Saturday with a 27 foot trailer and fully plan to pull one bed and piggyback one truck up onto the other one to make them fit. And it will still be tight with a little rear overhang.

spurredon 03-27-2012 07:54 PM

I would love to see a pic of that load!

a short box is 188 inches? 15.6 ft ? In my search online I havent been able to find an actual measurement that is close to the 6 or 8 ft Ive seen on them

spurredon 01-22-2020 02:12 PM

This may be a vintage post but not nearly as old as my truck. 188 inches is the overall length of the whole truck! What are you asking about 6 or 8 feet? Bed size?

actually Im trying to find the distance from the rear of the bed to the rear edge of the door so wile Im building shelves,I can allow some space in my garage for when I open the pickup door. I have to build the storage now and cant get the msmts since the pickup is many miles away in storage. If by any chance you know the short bed length, then that would be nice to have too.
While I was searching for over an hour I could find no measurements that would help me or even of the short bed alone, which is the bed I have. Lots of wheel base msmts but zip on pickup bed length, short or long. Measurements could be done from front hood to rear of the door too either way. My pickup doesnt have a rear bumper or a front bumper.so hope I can find the msmts without bumpers,.

OH I SEE.. I ANSWERED THS QUESTION THINKING ITWAS in reference to a post i made yesterday about a bed measurement. i see its not.

FuzzFace2 01-23-2020 03:44 PM

The OP would need to know the wheel base of each truck and the over hang front & rear of each truck.
Then on the trailer need to know how long the bed is that the wheels will sit on.
Then how much room at the front of trailer after the bed to have the trucks over hang to take up.
Then will this over hang hit the truck pulling the trailer?

And the BIG QUESTION and we all know the answer to, What is the weight rating of said trailer?
Everyone at once now!
You are WAY OVER the rating with 2 trucks if you could ever get both of them on it.
And that is not saying anything of the truck pulling the trailer if the rating is ok to pull that much weight.
