Can My Running Boards Be Deployed

My running boards does not work on my 07 Navi. I don't even have an on/off option on the dashboard as other Navigators do. Its like having the running boards deployed is not even an option. Are there any trouble shooting I can do on my own to rule anything our before I go to the dealer to be had? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by dashboard?

If I remember, my 2010, has a setting, in SETUP, that can be changed to NOT deploy in ice and snow.

When you say they dont work, do you mean they dont deploy when the door is opened? Or they dont retract? Is this something that just started happening? Have you checked the fuse?

First thing to do would be to check in the "setup" menu as stated above. Procedure should be in owners manual.

If you're asking if they can be deployed and stay that way, the answer is no. You can set them to stay deployed while the vehicle is in "Park" but as soon as you go over 5-10mph they will automatically retract.
Maybe you can deploy them and the pull the fuse to get them to stay out or disconnect the motor plug underneath each running board. Just be careful because they sit lower than regular running boards and you dont want to bottom out on something.

In the setup menu, there are options for just about everything else but nothing that says running boards. I recently purchased the vehicle so I have no idea what happened with the previous owner nor will I know who the person was as I purchased from an auction. My situation is that they are always deployed and never retracts. I will go underneath the vehicle tomorrow morning to see if I can see the motor that you're referring to to see if I notice anything. I checked the fuse one time when I was under the hood and I remembered seeing a good fuse for the running boards. I will re-post my findings after I go underneath the vehicle tomorrow. Thanks!!!

makajack, something sounds strange to me about your Navigator. You have power running boards but no fog lamps?? I thought most Navigators came loaded so I'm a little worried something isn't right.

Can you post the VIN so we can see if it actually came with power running boards?

Matt,

Funny you mentioned about the VIN because over the weekend I contacted my local Ford/Lincoln dealer and the tech ask me for the same thing. He later told me that my truck does not have the deployable running borads. That pretty much took my worries away in that regards, however my issue with the fog light still remains. I actually found out also, that the truck was involved in a wreck in the front and that also sums up my reason for no fog lights. I'm still stuck on how to install the fog lights though, :(

Can you post a pic of your Navigator? Especially the front end, maybe we can tell if something if missing.
