96 F-250 Powerstroke leaking fuel

i own a 96 f-250 powerstroke which is leaking fuel i am only 15 and dont know a whole lot about diesel trucks...the fuel is leaking at the top of the engine and running down the back where it drips onto the ground...i was directed here by my shop teacher who said you guys know it all so i was hoping someone had an idea of where it was leaking

Welcome to FTE!
It could be a few things fuel bowl cracked, bad fuel lines, bad fuel pump, leaking sensor. The best thing to do is clean it real good start the truck and see if you can see where it's leaking

alright sounds great thanks a lot for the advise!

Its probably those little rubber fuel hoses behind and down from the fuel bowl. Clean it all up then start it and use a small mirror to look around.

welcome to FTE.
once you find the leak, if you can take a few pictures showing where the leak is to show us it will be easier than trying to describe where the leak is.

also tell your shop teacher thanks for the recommendation! :-X22

I second what Glenn said.. I just completed putting new lines between the fuel pump and bowl because of the fuel leak. The valley would fill up and leak off the back of the engine. I unbolted the Fuel Bowl, not the pump to move it around to install the new lines. A person can accidentally drop that tappet under the fuel pump into the engine!
