be ware
took truck to dealer yesterday foreman heard intermitent knock i complained of last week which i was told it could be cam sensors which i replaced. Yesterday he told me i will need new engine and with only 31000 miles he will see what he can do to get it covered under powertrain warrenty only 51 months old. but because i did not use dealer for oil changes and did not use ford oil filter which is recommended for the 5.4 i may have voided warrenty. Be ware ford owners and use motocraft filters

Ouch , make sure you get a couple opinions before you give the go ahead on a new engine especially if they are not going to warranty it. Do a search on here there has been lots of talk about using filters other than ford and I think with the moss act I am not sure they can void the warranty over not using there filter.

If that is what the dealer is telling you (if those were actually the words they used), then I would find another dealer to work with.
You are absolutely not required to use Ford dealerships to do oil changes, or to use Ford Motorcraft oil filters, to avoid voiding a warranty. That's BS. There is a law, that prevents (or is supposed to prevent) the dealers from trying to spew this type of nonsense. If you didn't keep up on the required maintenance, then that is another story. |
they are backpeddling
