1968 F-100 Steering column

Was wondering if anyone had the part number for shifting linkage that goes from the column to the tranny.
Thanks

For which transmission?

deerbuster 01-07-2012 06:56 PM

It has a cruise meteric, is that a AOD? It also has an 1983 302. Or maybe a diagram with measurement, so I can make on.
Thnaks

Metric, was what I meant

MIKES 68 F100 01-07-2012 07:20 PM

did you mean cruisematic ? that was the old c4 transmission

deerbuster 01-07-2012 07:28 PM

Nope, that's what I thought, but the pan says cruise-o-metric. I think it might be a AOD, so I'm really confused

1968 F100, as original: 240 or 300 I-6: C4 Cruise-O-Matic, trans pan has 11 bolt holes / 360 or 390 = C6 Cruise-O-Matic, trans pan has 17 bolt holes.

AOD introduced in 1980 Passenger Cars, was not available until 1981 in F100's. So, with a 1983 302, it could be an AOD, but it could also be a C4, as both A/T's were available.

Swapped engine/AOD transmission: You will not be able to use 1968 parts. If the swapped in 302 has a C4 behind it, then the original parts might work, might not...depends if the C4 is original to the truck.

so i best bet will be to get some steel rod and start making one that will work? i have one,but the the distance between park and first is about an inch one the column, thats with it adjusted all the way out.
thanks
