help on replacing antenna

HI I have a 1977 ford f 150 and when i bought it the antenna was broken off at the base. I have tried every possible way i could think of to get at the base to take it off and replace it. it is the rectangle base type. if anyone knows how to replace it that would be very helpful thanks.

If its stock just pop off the chrome rectangle base with a screwdriver to reveal the screws that hold the base of the antenna. The rest should be pretty easy.

Not sure if it is the same as mine but the chrome cover clips front and rear and just pops off. Use a small thin blade screwdriver or blunt knife to pry it up, then you can get at the mounting screws under it....

Edit: or what Steve said....

Tie a string to the old antenna cable so you can pull the new one through the grommet.
