Which solenoids are which?

2001 Explorer Sport Trac 4X4. Transmission fluid changed a year ago. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, new battery, alternator, and it runs very good until a couple days ago. Still drives fine in reverse, but when I put it in Drive it stalls out. I've tried to put it in the other drive gears, but it does the same thing. Still idles fine in park or neutral. I've been reading for a couple days to see if I could get a better grasp on whats going on. From what I understand it may be a TCC solenoid issue. My problem is finding an answer on what I need to do to replace it. I've got the pan off and fluid looks fine and there isn't really much metal or anything on the magnet. I am wondering if someone can help me out on what I should do now? Pics are from passenger side.

man that picture is beautiful. thanks a million. So can I just pull the TCC out with the valve body in there or do I have to pull it as well? Any threads with a how to?

You can just replace the solenoid without removing the valve body, you will be removing two 10 mm bolts, one small gold one that holds the bracket for the solenoids and a longer black bolt that holds the solenoid itself. The solenoid should just pull right out.

When you go back together with things make sure all the solenoids are being held in by the bracket or they will blow out.

If you are replacing the filter make sure the new one has o rings on the filter, you can use the old ones if you need to. This is a common mistake I see in the shop.

Yes I am gonna replace the filter and new fluid.

Is that the only solenoid I should replace?

Where can I get one of these solenoids? I would like to get a good brand.

I would just replace the one TCC solenoid, your local dealer should have one.

Got it out. Is there any way to test it out?
