Please need HELP smog pump silincer, 7.5
 

I have a 1990 F250 7.5 liter 4/4.
My question is I broke the silencer when I was changing the alternator, and I can't find one in Salt Lake. I need to know what it will do to the engine if I run it with the hoses not hooked to anything. I found one on the internet but it was listed as $265.00. I can't believe it would cost that much, It is made of plastic and has spunnge filters in side. three hoses two from the smog pump and one flex hose going to nothing under the fire wall. any help would be appreciated.
