97 f250 hd axle problem
 

Last night my front axle gears crapped out, it has a dana 50 ifs, I have found a front axle off a 94 f350 dana 60. I have not found anything and wondering if and what it would take to do a swap to a solid dana 60?

In my opinion, any time you try to change things, you run into problems. If I were in your position, I'd probably just buy a new ring and pinion and rebuild the thing with new bearings and seals.

I would do the swap to the D60 if the axle ratio is the same as yours.

^^^x2. It's easier to install a D60 than it is to remove the D50.

I bought a dana 60 off a 94 f350, to put on my 97 f250. I need the track bar, sway bar, and the driverside bracket that the u-bolts and sway bar bolts to by the pumpkin. I did get those parts from a 2001 f250 but I am not sure if they will fit. Any help is great. Thanks

If they don't fit, I have the track bar bracket that mounts to the frame crossmember. It's the stock one. I also have a sway bar that I don't plan on using, but shipping on that would be pricey. PM me an offer if you need it.

If you was near by I would grab it, that way I know it will work. I plan on getting my dads 96 f350 and having it there to look at when I go to do it.

I can tell you that the superdutys have wider frames; so I would tend to think that the track and sway bars will be too long. But you could probably make the drivers side U-bolt bracket work. The track bar bracket I have could be shipped fairly cheap if you're interested.

Well last night a friend of mine located a 97 f350 dually 4x4 that is wrecked, I plan on looking at it tomorrow night and see what is good and price. That way I know I can maybe unbolt whole front end and just replace the hubs and rotors out.

If it's in good condition you can use the hubs, rotors, lockouts, and calipers from your D50. And you won't even have to bleed your brakes.

If that's a joke, I don't get it.

Well it's not a joke and it is correct! If you don't disconnect your brake lines from the calipers, then you don't need to bleed them!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm near positive 94 and 97 models both use different caliper retention hardware and are not interchangeable.

Would have to use the 94 knuckles to use its calipers, wouldn't want to do that "possible" or not, never style is the better setup of the two.

That's correct. Brakes are interchangeable between 94-95 and 96-97, but in the OPs last post he is now looking at a 97 dually axle.
