New engine (or facelift) to Raptor

I don't know if everyone has seen this, but there are rumors there is either a new engine (3.5L Ecoboost) or a new facelift coming to the Raptor. I sure hope its the Ecoboost ;-) Now all I need to have a perfect truck is a rear window that rolls down!

yah a 3.5 ecoboost would be cool. a 5.0 or 6.2 would be better. I think ford is barking up the wrong tree with that 6.2 the old saying there is no replacement for displacement is over. A s/c 5.0 can make up to 624hp at the crank with a ford racing supercharger. drop that in the raptor, aluminum block so it will shed some weight and pick up power across the board and the mileage would be better or just as bad. But what do I know?

No matter what the change is to the raptor it is still probably the sickest truck on the road.

HP is not torque and for a truck that's important. Not to mention building a block ect to tolerate that kind of boost requires alot of precision and expense. A SC engine probably wouldn't be a very big seller. Look how poor the EB engines in the F150 sell against the V8's on sheer cost factor.

It could happen. But I seriously doubt it. It may though. I dont think the Raptor customer is looking for fuel mileage. If they are they need to buy a focus. The 6.2 v8 is awesome and mean!

From a press release I found online dated March 1, 2012.

"February F-Series sales totaled 47,273 pickups, up 26 percent. V6 engines comprised 57 percent of F-150 retail sales in February; EcoBoost accounted for 43 percent of mix"

Seems to me the Ecoboost is selling better than the V8's.

you must not have very many EB on the road where you live. They are everywhere down here in Texas. out number new 5.0s 3-1. I personally would love to see an EB 5.0 or even a SC version as an option.

Ohh that would be sweet, I could finally convince the ol lady to get a raptor, then I could "borrow it"...often, hehe. She wants a king ranch eco booster

Ecoboost and 4.11 gears, Ahem !

I'd rather have the supercharged 5.8L from the 2013 GT500. 650hp and 600ft-lbs tq:-X04

If they do an eco boost motor they will do it to something bigger than the V6. They may do it to the 5.0 and make alot of hp. I am not sure though. I would stick with the 6.2. My raptor is the baddest truck out of all the trucks I have ever owned.
