Manual or auto hubs?
|
auto hubs for now
|
Auto hubs will have a single nut with a lock ring/pin that slides between the nut and the spindle to lock it in place. If I remember correctly, it's a 2 3/4 inch hex nut (with rounded corners).

I'll try to find the one I bought at Napa and post a part number tomorrow.
|
Ill see what sizes I got.
|
I have a 4tip 2inch,6tip 2 1/4 and a 2 9/16 hex.

Evercraft 776-9027 is the one I bought, worked on my 96 F350 4x4.

That socket is for manual hubs. Auto hub lock nuts look like this...

Sorry I can't remember what size it is. I ditched the auto hubs more than a year ago and sold them on eBay with the socket I had. I got it at O'Reillys. It was labeled for an F250 with manual hubs (shows how much parts stores know), 2 1/4, 2 3/4, ???. Can't remember.

Well at least this way if someone does a search for wheel bearing socket, the info is here now :-X22

Quick Update
I was at the parts store this weekend and saw the correct socket for the auto hubs. It's a 2-3/4" 6R socket. At O'Reillys it's Performance Tool part number W83246.
