AirBag Code 41
My truck's air bag light is flashing code 41. I did a search and found this code is:
41 RH Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Feed/Return Circuit Open What is the procedure for correcting this problem. Thanks in advance for your help. |
Anyone have any ideas?

I spent $12 and downloaded the factory service manual set from here:
Download the Automotive eBooks | 1995 Ford F SERIES F150 F250 F350 Service Manual 95 Repair The SRS manual has all kinds of great information in it. Here is what it says for code 41: CODE 41 - HIGH RESISTANCE OR OPEN RIGHT FRONT IMPACT SENSOR CIRCUIT NOTE: Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. After servicing has been performed, recheck AIR BAG warning light for codes with Air Bag Simulators (105-00010) still in place of air bag modules. If system is okay, install air bag modules and reactivate air bag system. Description Voltage at terminal No. 17 (circuit No. 617), of diagnostic monitor connector, is maintained at 9-11 volts. Circuit No. 617 is connected to circuit No. 624, inside right front impact sensor. If voltage at terminal No. 2 drops below voltage at terminal No. 17, Code 41 is set. Possible Causes Code 41 will set if there is an open circuit in circuit No. 617 or circuit No. 624. Code 41 will also set if there is an open circuit in the right front impact sensor. 1) Verify Condition - Turn ignition on. Check for fault codes. If Code 41 is flashing, go to step 2). If Code 41 is not flashing, check connectors, wiring and crimps for an intermittent problem. DO NOT proceed with diagnostic test unless code is flashing. Doing so will result in needless replacement of system components. 2) Deactivate System - Deactivate air bag system. See COMPLETE SYSTEM DEACTIVATION under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor. Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 and 17 of diagnostic monitor connector. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, replace diagnostic monitor. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, go to step 3). 3) Disconnect right front impact sensor from harness. Measure resistance between Pink/Orange and Yellow/White wires in sensor connector. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, locate and repair open circuit in circuit No. 617 or circuit No. 624. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, replace right front impact sensor. |
I replaced the right front crash sensor. I got one from a truck at the junk yard and that fixed the problem. No more flashing light.
