I never seen a 4.4
What truck will use it?
|
If you take a look at how old the posts are in this section and look at some of the threads you will see that NO truck will use it. It died before it ever got close. I think for realized that it would have taken too much money away from the superduty sales. The truck would have only been about 5-10 thousand less than the superduty. If you really want a 1/2 diesel wait until toyota gets theirs to the public because it is coming soon.

I saw a new model F150, probably an '09 or '10, with a diesel engine in it! About a year ago I was working one night and a burglar alarm went off at a local heavy equipment business. It was about 5 AM and when I arrived to check the alarm, some of the employees were arriving for work. The business is called Brandies Equipment. They have several big service trucks and some light duty pickups for their employees to drive. One of the employees pulled up in an extended cab 2wd F150 with Brandies Equipment on the side of it. It was probably an '09 or '10 model truck. It was setting there running and it was DEFINITELY a diesel! I didn't think much about it and wasn't aware of the mythical 4.4 yet. I don't know if it was a 4.4 in it or what but I do know it was a diesel! I wish I has asked to open the hood and take a look and some pics! I will make a point to go by there when they open a few mornings and see if I can see the truck again. So my point is that I know for a fact that there is at least one newer model F150 with a diesel engine in it running around here!

It would have been a test mule if anything unless someone put a diesel in the truck. They did not do a production run of them.

I was thinking maybe a test production or something. I doubt that someone put a diesel engine in it cause it's a company fleet truck. I am very curious now so I will find that truck again and take some pics.

It was probably just a 5.4 with bad cam phasers. They sound awful when they go bad.

possibly a 4.5 V6 powerstroke that was swapped into the 150??
the 4.5 was around for a while in the LCF trucks |
The 4.4 was cut, I'm sure, because of the new Ecoboost engine. The advantage of the 4.4 would have been mileage, and the Ecoboost gets great mileage, without the added costs of the diesel.
|
The 4.4 litre is here already
BUT
The export from Fords Chiuhuahua-factory are all sent to LandRovers production Diesels in the US are rare |

The ecoboost gets great mileage?? I don't consider 22 MPG to be very good. |
4.4 liter is in the Range Rover.
EB verse diesel. EB 3.5 liter verses 4.4 liter Diesel Which is better? HP: EB has 80 more HP Torque: 4.4 liter has 80lbs more torque Fuel Economy: 4.4 liter would have been 4 MPG better Cost: EB is nearly $6k less expensive to produce. |
Why not just get the F-250 instead? seems like its worth the extra cash.

ladies ladies calm your tits
the ice cream truck saves the day AGAIN (they are already putting this in Transits in the US and rumor it to go to F-150) |
the 4.4 is a european engine. it will never be seen in a ford in the states, and there is no plans to ever put it in a pickup in the states.
the diesel that was planed for the F150 was the 4.5, not the 4.4. but thanks to the EPA, it was underpowered when made EPA compliant, so that killed the F150 diesel plans. |
The engine in the ice cream truck is a 3.2L Inline 5 Turbo-diesel. If any Diesel makes it to the F-150, that will be it. Ots already in the transit here in the US and is also the diesel option in the Global Ranger.

I don't know why...but every day when I scroll down past the 4.4 section, I see the title of this thread and the grammar bugs me.
