97 F-150 lug pattern?

i was under the impression that starting in 97 that the lug pattern went to 5x135 is this not right? I was looking for rims found a nice set of 16x10 Rims and just outta curiosity checked the compatibility of a 97 F-150 4x4 XLT and it said it would not fit so i checked again for a 98 still no go, and again for a 99 and no again... but in 2000 it magically starts fitting...

so my question is did they stay 5on5.5 until 99 and in 2000 switch to 5on135 or did they switch in 97 and the site just wrong...?

thanks for any help

As far as I know, it's 5X135mm with 12mm studs for 97 and 98
And 5X135mm with 14mm studs from 2000 to 2003 and 04 heritage models.

Right. 97-03 are all the same. Like Phil said only difference is the stud size for the 97-98

Thanks, i was bout 99% sure it was 5 on 135 maybe the reason they wont fit is there for the 14mm studs instead of the 12... anyways i messaged the guy asking him about them!

phil6608 11-28-2011 06:48 AM

I'm pretty sure the 14mm wheels will fit on a 12mm truck. :)

77mud 11-28-2011 11:09 AM

theyll fit yes, but wont they woble a little since the lug nuts on this truck are just a flat washer? or am I over thanking things here?

i know on older fords the lug nuts are tappered, on this truck there just a flat washer there

phil6608 11-28-2011 11:39 AM

The wheels are hub centered. So the hub holds it in the center, keeping it from trying to wobble.

now that makes sense so basically as long as there 5on135 they will fit my 97

Yup................

thanks, You ever heard of rebel racing rims?

phil6608 11-28-2011 02:55 PM

No, What kind are you looking for?

77mud 11-28-2011 03:30 PM

The sets im looking at is a set of 16x8 bullet holes, and then if your familiar with the american racing but the outlaw II's Rebel racing wheels have a black version with all the little bolts chromed but there in the 70-80 range instead of the 120 range..

phil6608 11-28-2011 03:51 PM

Oh,,I was just wandering. I have some just sitting in my garage I don't need anymore. :)

77mud 11-28-2011 03:57 PM

what size? kind all that good stuff im not dead set on these... :D

any idea the offset of factory 97 Rims?

phil6608 11-28-2011 07:31 PM

No, I'm not sure of the offset.

I have 4 but I bought them 2 at a time so there a little different from each-other.
I bought 2 for the front of my truck to run at the track, there 16"X 8 I think and have been custom drilled to fit 5X135mm. So they have 8 holes in them. Not sure of the make.
The other two I got for the same reason, Same size and in great shape. I think there Weld wheels.
They look like this, but without all the holes around the center-cap.
Weld Racing Draglite 90-Series Wheel - JEGS
