Help section a 57 Hood
1 Attachment(s)
Looking to section a 57 hood. Any one try this? Can this be done without sectioning the cab? I'm just looking to drop the nose of the hood a little. Not as much as this 57 but this is my favorite truck.

That is one sweet looking 57. I have not done this, I would say it depends on how much you change the angle on the hood. Check out the last few minutes of this link when the did the 56 for Chip Foose. They did booth the hood and the cowl. Overhaulin' Overlord Chip Foose Part 1 Of 6 - Car Videos on StreetFire

mbrowne, you don't list your location. I have an old 57 hood that's a perfect experiment hood. I'm in the Fresno area.

that would be quite a challenge. Lot of custom work on this truck. the bed is the
same as the hood, tapered down to the rear. Top edge of the bed is round now not square. The roundness carries all the way through the door. the head lights are way modified as it the grille and the front bumper looks like a nova let into the fenders. Pretty lot of work if you could do it at all, but it is way cool, fridgero or not. |
the red 57
The"F157" pictured belongs to Gary Coe from Portland Or. and was heavily modified by Steve's Auto Restoration also of Portland Or.It was sectioned 1-1/2 inches below the door handles and 2 inches taken out of the roof. The hood was pancaked. The bumpers are both "64" Econoline's.There is an excellent article on this "57" in the Aug.2006 issue of Classic Trucks mag.Very sweet truck.

The FoMoCo Designers put that height in the Hood for a reason, to clear the Air Cleaner Can & the like. So unless you plan on a Major redesign under your hood to relocate such things, I wouldn't even ponder it.

I've got 6 inches of room or more above the air cleaner on the 351W in my 57. I'd be more concerned about the top of the stock radiator, if the OP is running a stock radiator.

I have changed my mined about the hood. After having someone draw me a picture I did not like it. I will stay with the stock hood. Still like the 57 grill idea. If someone needs a nice 57-58 hood they can come and get it for $150.00 thats what I paid for it. Concord CA. I will not ship it. PM me if you need it.
