Looks very much the same, except that the grille seems to mimic the [=] of the SuperDuties. 7 lugs on those wheels too so there's still a HD package.

looks to me as if requiring the longer wheel base for the HD packages will stay as well. Based on the max tow mirrors and 7 lug wheels as noted before.

im guessing the changes in 13 will likely be cosmetic in nature?

Same old truck.

I'm glad I bought a 2011 model insted of waiting. I'm not really a fan of these vertical ''horizontally challanged'' headlights that Ford is putting on their trucks...Started with the Superdutys in 2008 and has progressivly worked its way to the F-150.

Agreed. That was one of the reasons I did not go with a F-250, but ordered the 2012 F-150 HD payload instead.
I do have to say that those 7-lug aluminum wheels look good.

Maybe you can have them swapped out onto your truck at a later date. Congrats on the new truck!

640CI, I think my truck will come with those wheels; I ordered an XLT with HD payload. :)

I'm kinda surprised that Ford is freshening the F-150 up at all. If they are going to that lenght with the XLT grill, what's in store for the Lariat and higher grills?

Shadow Grey 11-10-2011 05:13 PM

Good find there, but a new grill for a model year...big deal Ford...I'll keep mine...so far.

Thanks for posting. That is an ugly truck in the article. Just my $0.02.

IMO the Vice-Grip Super Duty looking grille does not work good on this F-150 design. I always thought the '05+ Pre '07 make-over Super Duties were some f the cleanest looking trucks on the market. I completely lost interest in '07 & '08 when they flipped the headlights upside down, but warmed up to it later. I then threw up in my mouth when they refreshed the truck again in '10 or '09 with that vice-grip looking grille and even more cheese-ball looking headlamps.

The current F-150's are one of the best overall looking trucks still especially in Limited, HD, FX-2 & 4 trims. The Dodge Ram front is super nice looking, but from the cab back looks like it was designed by Fisher Price. The GM trucks are a clean-cut, no-frills design, but yawn inspiring at best, especially the interiors.

Why is it that Ford doesn't already include HIDs in at least the higher trim levels for the F150? Does anybody think these will be coming in 2013 with the revised headlamps?

I wish they would. That and LED taillights would be great. Heck, LEDs for all of the signals, brake lights, etc. would be great. It's a shame that with what these trucks cost, they aren't even an option. I saw a brand new Dodge Avenger the other day that had LED taillights. And, Hyundai and others make them standard equipment.

I agree with the lights thing. You get the same headlights if you buy an XL or if you buy a Harley Davidson. C'mon now guys, you can do better. Some factory driving/fog/auxiliary lights for the Raptor should have been enabled for the new model too. They did have those LED running lights spotted on a mule, I don't know why they haven't incorporated anything since?
