I think they were the equivalent to air miles today.
My mother talked about war stamps they used to get during WW2 which were rashen stamps and were green too.

It used to be my job to stick them in the book

Adam, food stores would hand them out depending on how much you spend & then you could redeem them for food at that store.........

Air miles are a scam, i heard yesterday they are being cancelled

I think the green stamps were too,lol

O so they were the "Value" card's of the day. Like Giant Eagles rewards card?

There was other stuff you could get with the green stamps too. I can remember my mom having the S&H catalog out looking through it to see what she could get with her stamps.:-X22

I grew up in Florida where Public and Winn Dixie (Kwik Chek) were the two big grocery chains. Publix gave out the green stamps, Winn Dixie gave out the yellow (TV or Top Value) stamps.

Things were tough back then, the stamps would help some families i guess............

Top Value stamps were the big competitor to S&H Greenstamps in this part of NY when I was a kid.
