What is normal EGT temperature?
i tried a search but didn't find much. i'm just curious as to what my normal egt's should be while highway driving and while towing. i have an 05 excursion with the 6.0, it has a 4" exhaust all the way back, cold air kit and is running a tow tune. during normal highway driving i am usually in the low 800's but if i accelerate i will rise into the 900's is this normal? i haven't done any towing yet with my new gauge so i'm not sure of those temps are but for some reason i just thought the temps for normal non-tow driving would be lower. anyone know what the normal temps are for my application?

Not sure what tuner ur using. But with my bullydog on performance my EGT temp are in the 800's on highway not towing. An when u step on the GO pedal ur temps will go up.
While towing a 7300 to 7500 pound load my EGT temp have been up in the 1200 to 1290 range. I have hit temps of 1380 unloaded before. Just all depends on how hard an for how long u hold the GO pedal. |

LRSTony,
Is your EGT probe is located in the exhaust manifold or the Turbo downpipe. There is about a 300 degree difference in the temps between the 2 locations. The exhaust manifold being the higher temp. |
