I went 4 wheelin today and I need some advice

The truck is a 93 F150, 5.0, Auto, 3 inch body lift, F250 coils, locker in the rear 4:10's, 35 inch Procomp mud terrains.
I took the beatertruck out today to play in the mud and I gotta admit I am a little disappointed with the performance. I found out the procomps suck in the mud and I'm just basically disgusted with the performance of the entire truck.

The truck did OK for the first couple of hours and then it sank in shallow mud hole and I got so hung up I had to get a flippin tractor to get me out.

So, my question are....
1. Should I get new tires and see how the truck does with them?
2. Sell the truck and buy a dedicated play truck?
3. Do you guys think I'm expecting too much from the truck or did I just get unlucky with some really goopy mud?
4. Raise the truck with a SAS and run some bigger tires?

I really like to play when I get the time off work and I don't like spending the afternoon trying to get the damn thing unstuck :(

Here's a couple of pics for you guys to laugh at and tell me how pathetic I am :o

Doug, looks to me like this is a great play truck. I'd think about going with some different tires. Man, looks like you had a good time getting it stuck!!LOL

Ur hilarious Pat lol. Believe it or not those are brand new Pro Comp mud terrains on there. I actually did have a good time til it got itself stuck(my stupidity had nothing to do with it :o). I wore out the credit card yesterday ordering new stuff for it. I bought 35X14.50X15 swampers and 15X15 welds. I'm either going to SAS the truck or just add a 6 inch lift to it.
I found a 94 bronco on CL in freemont that has a SAS on it already and some 38's, a 351 and some other goodies. The body is beat to death, but he says it runs good. If all is alright with the bronco I'll go getit because he only wants $1500.00 for it and I think I would spend that much on the SAS alone. I'll strip what I want off it and junk the body. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and I'll keep you guys posted.

Sounds like a good plan Doug. Looking forward to seeing how it works out!

Sounds like some lockers and a 5.8 would make it perform better under that kind of abuse.

By the looks of that mud, you'd need to be spinning those tires REALLY fast to get em cleared out. Lockers might have helped, but other than that, anything short of a 460 with a big ol' blower is probably going to faceplant in that kind of muck. Just my .02. Nice rig though.

BTW, beatertruck, where did you find that mud @? I want some!!

I have been stuck with minimum maintenance roads to go mudding on and with my long arse truck that gets hairy. Please do tell where the mud is.

FourXFord2 01-15-2012 11:42 AM

yep, min maint. I haven't been on any to the east, but other then an occasional washout or 2 ft of snow, gets boring. I'd do some mud if I could. :P
