2001 F150 4R70W 4X4 transmission doesn't shift from 3rd to OD

My transmission doesn't goes to OD from 3rd gear, It goes to 55 miles per hour at 1800 - 2200 rpm and then neutralize and I can push my gas pedal and the engine rpm can go up to 5000 rpm and doesn't up shift. I have to let the rpm drop to 1600 and 35 mph and then the 3rd gear engage again. Is there anybody had or has the same problem? I need some advise, please.

Is the OD lamp on at the end of the shift lever?
What is the response if you push the button?
Lamp comes on, lamp never come on, lamp goes off etc.
This trouble should have set a code and a flashing or steady lamp on.
The trans is all electric controlled and every function is monitored.
It may be as simple as a blown fuse, a shorted or broken wire in the shifter area to the button due to the constant movement everytime the shifter is moved.
The button signals the computer what to do with overdrive and is used to signal back that there is a trouble present by flashing the lamp unless the lamp circuit has a fault..
Good luck.

The OD lamp is off all the time, unless I push the bottom and the lights come on and the car that doesn't go fast only to 3rd gear and 55 mph but doesn't try to upshift to OD like when the light is off.
I don't get any engine or transmission codes in my snap-on solus scanner.

Ok Al, guess it's trans shop time.
Nothing to do for it on the outside.
Good luck.
