nys inspections license

Looking to get my automotive inspectors license, how do I go about doing this, was wondering if anyone could point me in a direction:-X22

try New York State Department of Motor Vehicles - NYS DMV - NYSDMV - Driver - Vehicle Do you need this for work? they should be able to point you in the right direction also. When I first got mine we had to go to Syracuse for "training" and an exam. Now once you get your license you have to have it "activated" through the inspection machine.

thanks for the response, how long was the training and how hard was the test?

yes this is for a job, but I'm trying to get it before I start applying at garages

When I took it, it was 1/2 day with test. Test was based on what instructor said so easy, I also took motorcycle one too. Check with dmv site, it will give you procedures. Again license has to be activated to actually perform inspections on stations machine.

I have my form filled out, did you have to fill this out when you got your license?

it says it take 6-8 weeks for them to get back to me?!?!

did you have to wait that long?

what happens after I send it in what is the next step

It was quite a while ago when I got my license. Things have really slowed up. Supposedly the DMV "does not have the resources" to keep up with requirements, applications etc. One of those hurry up and wait deals.

Hey guys I just did all my stuff at the start of the summer for work, the 6-8 weeks its BC they have to get enough people in the area to take the class/ test to make it worth the time, not gonna do it every week for 2 people. Also you have to have at least one year in the automotive repair field to be aloud to take the test. I'm not sure but you might have to be working in a shop that does inspections to even take the test, but don't quote me on that last part.

You also can have "schooling". The State boys would come to the local BOCES vocational school and give the test on campus.
