Four wheel drive shift pattern

I recently bought a 1997 F150 and the 4wd shifter has an aftermarket shift lever handle with no markings. Just wondering if it is standard (forward 4high, full back is 4low). Is this shift on fly or do I need to drop to neutral to change in to 4wd. I know it may be a stupid question, but i need to know for sure. I use 4wd quite a bit for my work and on fishing trips.

thats what it looks like, as for on the fly.. my guess would be 4h with no load to the wheels (not pushing the gas) and 4l you have to be stopped and in neutral
